Protesters Surround Saddleback Church

In response to Pastor Rick Warren’s support for California Proposition 8, which narrowly passed in the general election, hundreds of protestors gathered outside of Warren’s Saddleback Church Sunday. Proposition 8 amended the California state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

The protest was one of many that have occurred throughout the state, including 2,500 people who gathered on the steps of the state capitol in Sacramento.

Representatives from the Human Rights Campaign accused the Church of sending misleading messages to the public, including that gay marriage would be encouraged to kindergarteners.

Warren and Saddleback hosted a “faith forum” for presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama in August.
