Methodist Leaders Gather In Ghana

01/17/2008

Methodists from all over the world — including the United States, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Liberia and Benin — are meeting in Kumasi, Ghana, as part of the second International Mission's Conference, which will take place though Friday.

The Rev. Robert Aboagy-Mensah, presiding bishop of the Methodist Church of Kenya, began the event Tuesday by calling for the end of church corruption, Myjoyonline.com reported.

Aboagy-Mensah kicked off the theme of “Methodism and Modern Mission” by emphasizing the importance of effective evangelism and growth. He also challenged youth group leadership to provide good examples for the church’s youngest members.

Kumasi is located in the rainforests of southern Ghana, and with 1.5 million residents, it is the second largest city in the nation.
